A Story Re-told

Is a story re-told...like soup...better the next time round??

Let it Go....the truthful liars and the false fair friends who say we do not need a stash!!!
Ha ha!
e.e...thank you for the words.
This potholder has fabrics spanning 50 years!!!
That is what makes it perfect.  Perfect for Evelyn.

Evelyn is an awesome respiratory therapist...good brain, good heart, good common sense.
Mr. O'Quilts had been zoning in and out in April this year.  I called Evelyn.
It was Monday afternoon, I wanted Evelyn to come to the house immediately to check if his behavior was...
Too much Morphine? Too much Ativan? ALS disease process?

She could not come till Tuesday morning.
I was scared and in full Mama bear mode.
I begged, I pleaded, I cried..all..to no avail.
She came the next morning, Tuesday at 8am.

Family was gathered round chatting waiting for the wise one.
She took one look at my love and gave him 15 minutes.
A huge shock.
She said it was disease process and that the body just gets tired of it all and stops.
Maybe he had been dead already, but we could not tell because of the breathing mask made his chest go up and down.
Evelyn then stayed with us an hour and a half until the Hospice nurse
...came to take off his mask and pronounce him.
I will never ever forget that Tuesday morning.
I am remembering all this with great detail because it is the holiday season now.
Evelyn lives in the country and has chickens.
I am making her a chicken potholder...will deliver on Friday.
I will never forget your kindness Evelyn...You even checked up on me later.
xxoo

Oh my heart goes out to you, I am so sorry. You have a wonderful friend in this woman and I know that she will treasure your gift. I love my stash of fabrics, they have provided me with many hostess gifts and helped with many an applique and quilt :) God bless you.
You are in my prayers.
Connie :)

Holidays are tough enough without a hole in one's heart. The day will come, when each of those things your beloved would have told you, will be things you simply think to yourself and know in your heart that it's not how much we cry and grieve that shows how much we loved them and love them still. But how hard it is for us to move on. It's tough, just plain tough. The first year is horrible in all ways, the second one will ease and then the day will come when you realize your are happy and it's ok. For now, the fabric and the shopping is the make do for now kind of happy. But for now, we all love to come and to read here, to see how you are doing, bit by bit. And all of us who have grieved deeply for our loved ones, grieve for you now, as well. hugs hugs hugs

You are so thoughtful Diane. I love your potholders and the one for the bug man was perfect! I have your potholder I received in the CMQG exchange a few years ago. I love it so much that this year I kept it out all year, even though it is Christmas fabrics. I would just giggle this summer every time I used it. Who says it can't be Christmas in July.
