Keep Calm and Keep on Quilting....

A little bit of concussion, a little bit of cold and asthma and a little bit of quilting.  Just had to share that I had quilted something.  So nice to have two now off the pile done...oh, I know..this is not bound or snipped or washed, but it is quilted and I am pleased.  Mr.O'Quilts has the bug too...how cozy is that....rain and recliners and being under the weather together!!!  PS...a bit about the new bed....The Mr. called Ashley furniture where we got the mattress....they have a lower box spring...Can u believe, it is FIVE inches lower...We should be having that exchanged next week...and life will be perfect!!

Another PS...I am practicing the devil of freemotion quilting....I am having a struggle with borders...at the edge...puckering happens...any suggestions would be helpful..

  1. Hope you both feel better soon! Your quilt looks great. Our bed is really high, too- good idea to change to the lower box spring. I wish we had- I have to climb up to get in bed! As for the puckers, I consider them design elements- little pintucks. :). Just got my machine back from being serviced and I am ready to go!

  2. I am new to free motion quilting, but I read somewhere that you might want to stitch in the ditch along the border seam and again a quarter inch, or the width of your machine's foot away from your ditch stitching in the border. That will stabilize things a bit. Then go to town free motion stitching the rest of the border.

  3. I LOVE Melissa's idea for FMQ!! I seem to do OK on smaller quilts but the big boys turn out to be a mess. Your quilts are looking good. Hope you feel better soon

  4. So sorry you don't feel good. I came home from Thanksgiving with a cold but luckily it is just about gone. I always seem to catch something when I am around all of my nieces. I do LOVE them though! Your new quilts look great. I love your style and thought of you while I was reading a new book (15 Minutes of Play). Have you seen it? Virginia Findley Wolfe's new book. It is wonderful. I love her idea of just playing and see what comes of it. Just do it to have fun.

Hope to see you Thursday at CMQG. Let me know if you need a ride.
