I hate it...now really, amongst things to hate, like ALS for instance...hating my finished Cotton and Steel quilt top is quite minor. But I hate it anyway.
Suggestions to self...I could..
1. Use it as a back of a quilt.
2. Donate it
3. Put it away to look at it another time.
4. Ignore my present feelings and quilt it up and let the kids use it.
5. Cut it up and re-purpose it.
That is all I can think of.
And I am embarrassed that I attributed all that razz to Cotton and Steel...eg..
Women are made of Cotton and Steel and I, too am going to be like that.
Well, the thoughts and the process did get me through two months of sadness..
I will give Cotton and Steel that!!!..
.I think I love the name more than I love the fabric.

That is my rant for the day..
The RELIEF:
He is not dead yet!!!!!
My daughter-in-law came for the day for her supervised visitation.with her children
She is doing very well for now...soon will be picking up her one year chip, drug free...Soo proud I am...
She is very smart and handy. She was able to assist the caregiver to get my darling out of bed,
into the Hoyer lift and into the Carolina blue and sunshine!!
And lucky me...was able to sit beside him and hold his hand...
Love..just the two of us!!!

I dont like cotton and steel, it does nothing for me. Perhaps leave the decision of what to do till later. I love the photo of your man and great you had time to spend together.

Some sunshine & hand-holding will always help calm the beast. Hugging you all.
ReplyDeleteYes, no decisions on the top just yet. Put it away or finish it up as a utility quilt. It is quite jolly & amused you in some dark days -- that's something!
Don't do anything hasty with the top. I think you should fold it up and put it in the back of your cupboard. I think sometimes you just need a break from quilts you work on, plus I don't think you could give it away if you have bad feelings about it.
ReplyDeleteI like the thought of you and Mr holding hands and spending some quiet moments together.
I like Rachel's suggestion, but can't stop thinking about Victoria Findlay Wolfe's neato quilt that won best of show at the 2013 QuiltCon. She cut up a double wedding ring quilt and made something much more interesting. But yeah, since you can't stand it right now, it needs to go in time out for a while.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, things need to be quilted to shine....I would quilt the dickens out of it, bind it and call it done. I think large patterns look good heavily quilted...gives 'em a bit of oomph. Don't let this one languish....you'll feel worse about it.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you and yours.
