Today a top finished from orphan blocks and backing cut...adorable owls from IKEA
Guess what I found in my messy sewing room...way after a year...
My block exchange from the Charlotte Modern Quilt Guild.
I am sure that they were due forever ago.
Grateful I found them at all.
I have the blocks now on the design wall trying to balance value...hmmm a bit on the busy side.
One beautiful conniver got a new backpack for school. How could anyone resist??

And boy is she a worker...cleaning up sticks for the lawn mowing experience.
Voila...my sister to the rescue once again...Ten year old Evan's first lawn cutting experience.
I love this link....
I.guess I am out of the shock stage now...ugh and ugh again.
When grief and the unfairness of life socks it to me...I sew for myself and give to others....
It calms my sea...for awhile.
Thank you for friends and family for lifting me up and holding me tight.
And of course for the comfort of all our dogs and cats.
I promised my dear man that I would carry on.
Maybe now is the time for Rachel's Survival Kit chocolate from Australia!!!!

Those owls are really cute! The orphan blocks look fabulous, and your Charlotte quilt guild blocks are ready to be turned into something bright and cheerful! The donut back pack really made me laugh, I could do with one!! I've managed some sewing and cutting this morning, I have a few projects on the go all at once, I can't focus too long on one project!! Variety is the spice of life :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy and that owl fabric is gorgeous. All I have been doing is messing around making baby stuff (our DIL is due to give birth in 4 weeks)...still 1 quilt to finish and one to start eek! Wish I had your quilting output. Nice to see the little ones flourishing and helping you. You are doing an amazing job holding everything together. Love, light and peace from the land of Aus.
ReplyDeleteI love finding forgotten, missing blocks. They sometimes inspire new enthusiasm for the project. Cute owls and I love the back pack.
ReplyDeleteHugs
The Owls are perfect! Can't wait to see what you come up with for the guild blocks.
ReplyDeletereally cute owls and I love the kids working together on the lawn.
ReplyDeleteNice UFO finish
The snowball top is charming & will make someone very happy. And your blockswap blocks are great! I'd love to know the swap rules; I suspect that you contributed the wild, stripey prints.
ReplyDeleteRegarding 3 months of widowhood -- I have no suggestions, having never been on your path. Hold on to your memories, hold on to your family & friends. I wish I could take your pain, for at least a day. But I wonder if you would miss it? It is becoming a part of who you are.
I'm so glad you find relief at your sewing machine.
Sending you love.
p.s. Your fine Young People! I know they make you tired but also give you so much pleasure.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Miss Conniver can help find you an M&M backpack. ;-)
I love that busy quilt!! It's elecetric! Such a cute backpack, little miss looks as though she earnt it by doing chores. I'm happy my chocolate gift could help in a tiny way.
