My widow group has formed a new sewing group.
We are working on a name.
Today was the second meeting and boy did we get a lot done.
Starr put these blocks together at home
and I quilted it tonight.
We used one of my favorite batiks on the back.
ONLY because I have finally realized that there is no
trailer hitch on the hearse for my fabric...
We have mixed skills here...ironing, pinning, basting, cutting and more.
But at the end of the day,
I assure you that all will be great accomplished quilters.
who know how to quilt and have fun too.
Originally the deal was for Hospice, but now with
North Carolina so desperate, I am wondering if anyone has
set up a distribution place for quilts for those affected by that nasty Florence.
Let me know
Latest dim news...
3.4 million poultry birds are dead.
Every day, a new statistic.
I support sewing for a cause.
My mother always said that the way to get out of
your own funk, is to do things for others.
xo I miss you Mom

Your mom was a very wise woman and you are a pretty smart cookie yourself. And you just gave me my favorite new quote for quilters or at least fabric addicts...that there's no trailer hitch on the hearse for fabrics. Love your new group and the giving but most of all the community of learning and sharing. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteDelightful post! I, too, am going to borrow your quote, "no trailer hitch on the hearse for fabrics". I've been thinking it may be the quilter who uses (not has) the most fabric wins! And I love this new to me use of fabric strips for a quilt pattern! What a fun strippie quilt! I'll be watching to see if there is a place to send quilt donations for Florence victims. 👍
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never with reading blog posts and leaving comments!! Good to see a new quilting group forming and sounds like you're going to be very productive. I hope there is a distribution set up for quilts, I'm sure they would be so very welcome.
