Happy Grandma O'Quilts having good friends....

A marvelous sit and sew today with a friend.
I finished Tula's block 14..one more and the cross section is done
Finished 9 potholders....!!!
After paying big bucks to karate, tomorrow is the last day.
It ends with stunt camp.
Dylan acted out and had to be sent home...guess it is his way of showing
frustration at leaving karate after 4 and a half years.
Lynsey is sobbing..She spent half her life going to karate..
Bad grandma just ran out of money.

Tuesday was an awesome trip to the Foust sale with my quilting buddies.
Peacefully driven by the genius of the group...Sherry.
She also brought my bedroom smart TV down to my sewing room and set it up for me,
since we had to cancel cable.
xxoo
My budget allowed me two awesome bags of scraps for $5 each.
The true mother-lode as these fabrics were squeezed into tiny ziplock baggies.
They are fat-eights and not quite fat quarters...amazing.

Then, on to the thread store for Muggs finishing it off with
Soup and salad at the Olive Garden.
Fun is exhausting😄

Thank God for my friends....Look what Paula did for the kids.
She shopped, bought and mailed all Evan's school supplies!! (from Greensboro!!!)
And, she added crayons and markers and coloring backpacks to make the little ones happy.
I cannot believe that in 2.5 weeks, we will have an 8th grader, a 3rd grader and a 4th grader..
Amazing!!
Evan has finished one of  his summer readings, The Hunger Games
Lynsey is online daily with a multiplication game.
Dylan reads to one of us each night..
We are going to make it !!! All with a little help (a lot) from our friends.xo

My son cleaned the mildew off the brick sidewalk so  no one will slip and fall..
The children's mother bought the back to school clothes
 and shoes for the boys.
My son said he had a few day construction job coming up and would be able to have the children's hair cut for school...
Sooo grateful..
Nice to hear some good news instead of all doom and gloom

Dear sweet Eithne brought this oilcloth back from Ireland for me.
Cats and Celtic knots...just lovely.

All hard to photo.but lovely to have.  What to make???
Bags?? Wipe easy cloths for the table?  Pouches?
I am such a lucky Grandma O'Quilts.
A happy post today

Love and the Fabric Fix

For my 70th birthday, Cousin Ann, in London...gifted me with the best present of all.
A gift certificate of a very generous amount to Hancock of Paducah..my favorite online fabric store.
I decided to save it for a very stormy day.
Sure enough, the gales came last week, and I became stuck in the mud.
My fabric came today.  Euphoria!!!!
Thank you Ann...Thank you so much
xoxoxo
First up...a great selection of whites/supporting fabrics...
 Next...whimsy...my middle name..
 Stormy skies, holidays and houses
And, cute as a button children's animal fabric..

Yesterday, Poor Pitiful Pearl came again for a visit.
I could not get rid of her...so I told her, that in spite of my fall,
I was going to Foust fabric outlet and to lunch with my friends.'
She had to stay home!!
I stuck to my guns and had a great time...me and my pain meds and my peeps.
It would have been hard to pass on the above fabric for $2.50 a yard.
Nor, the bottom Christmas felt cutouts for the children at 39 cents a yard.
I also bought Insul-Brite and some scissors..
From i Love Fabric came these 2  half yard pieces...with $3 shipping..not bad.

I am all better now...bruises from my fall , under control.
Gratitude that I broke nothing..
All better thanks to a little...no..A LOT.of help from my friends.

F and F...Friends and Fabric

So, what puts a smile on a face??  Totally, friends and fabric!!
This fabric is the bee's knees!!!
We went to Foust today.  Eight of us in torrential rains.  Annie Carol drove and I sat in the front seat so I would not get car sick.  My friends somehow cater to that.   I helped her drive with my eyes shut.
Foust is a wholesale fabric store in King's Mountain, NC.  TBTG to Sherry of Sherry Lynn's Designs.  With Sherry leading the way, bargains were ours.
At Foust, you have to buy the entire bolt.  With eight friends, dividing it all up was a piece of cake.  The rain pounding on the tin roof, the friends going nuts on fabric bargains.  Really, how can it be better.
Now, Sherry Lynn has all the fabric at her house.  She is figuring out how much we owe her and who bought what.  I can hardly stand it.  We will not see our fabric again for two whole weeks.  I am breathing deeply.

Even though I am generally a nice person,  I refused to share my cool bee fabric.  And, I took it home with me.   Here it is, already all washed and wrapped back on the bolt.  There were 6 yards on the bolt at $3.50 a yard.
How can a person love fabric so much???  How can a person feel so happy??
