Getting Scary in July

Thrilled here...to have this Halloween top finished.
This is the back fabric.
On the design wall: handy cordless Panasonic
Beautiful, fine batik spider web
Including the spiders
The choices are endless. Having such a good time admiring my fabric.
I have been saving Halloween fabric for years....
Fabric choices may be endless, but I am not.
Time to sew with it.
Zoe is 12...guess I am not the only old one in this house.
Look at all her white fur now...We love our Zoe.

My doctor said I need a vacation....I agree!!

My physical therapist frets that I should not be so tired after my work out
I should  not have to nap all day, exhausted.
So back off to my PCP I went today.
During my blood work, I met a new friend who is now in social work school.
Got her chatting so I would  not feel the needle.
Next week I have to have a heart echo...to be sure the operations and stresses of my
life are not doing me in.

I am relieved to have all that in place.
My poor body does not know what hit it at PT with bar bells,
bicycle, arm bike, stretches...OMG
I am now 8 weeks out from knee replacement surgery. My knee is perfect.
The rest of me, not so much.

Funny, how when it comes to finishing off a Halloween flimsy..
I have tons of energy!!
My heart beats just fine.

Grandma's Eye Candy

The last of my fabric orders came today...So I thought I would share.
I love this colorway...and I love the fish..
A little bit from down under..to make me smile.
This Halloween treat is a batik.  It is quite lovely but does not photograph well.
Of course...the show off stars...He did his hair and she shows off all her purses, including the new white poodle one from Texas!! Gotta love being 5 and 6!!
Evan, at 10 cannot be bothered to have a photo...too cool, you know.
He is playing Mindcraft.
My only sister is still in the hospital.  She was to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy this morning but she was allergic to the prep...Last time I talked to her she was quite distraught.  Now she has to have the tests tomorrow.  They are ruling out any intestinal bleeding that may be the cause of the severe anemia.
When she had the emergency blood transfusions on Wednesday,...
Immediately her only sister..Me!!! put all the deleted fabric shop links back on my computer.
I mean, really...life is way too short.
And, every time, my 3 inches worth of stitches irritates me, I am reminded of my Melanoma.
Going into the hospital to visit her reminds me of my dear man, now gone 11 weeks...

It is all out of my hands.
We will survive!
How dear the breath of life.

The Perfect Day to Chill

The lovely relaxing rainy day..JoAnn's fabrics has a sale today and tomorrow..25% off all fabric..sale and not sale...and you can also use your 50% off and 40% off one full price fabric.  Now, I only went to LOOK.
.I mean I did need to get out of the house for some respite...hmmm
I so so so loved this..I would never have paid full price...but with all the discounts, I could not walk away.

I am trying to border this quilt with
very little success.  I guess I will
just leave it plain on the design wall
until another idea hits me.  I am having a hard time pulling my fabric
out of the shelves.

The fabric is so tightly packed in...I really need another shelving unit!!!
Sewing, nodding off in my reading chair, looking through magazines!!
A perfect day.  Especially with the grands at their cousin's house.
Here we have the saintly Uncle Declan in from Dublin for a week.  Who else would try to teach a five year old and a six year old, the names of the pieces of chess?
He is so helpful.  He learned in one minute how to put on the breathing mask,  he sits and reads in the room while Mr.O'Quilts sleeps. he walks the children to their buses in the dark with a flashlight..which they think is an awesome adventure.
The latest update on Himself is new machinery.  I just hate it when new machinery comes, because that means that my dear man is getting worse.  Now he has a Sip and Puff and he has a vest.   The vest wraps around his torso and squeezes the phlegm from deep down to be suctioned out.  It shakes his whole body and exhausts him.  He is supposed to do it twice a day separate from food....I have not watched this yet...Really, it is way too much.
Actually, just posting this makes me want to go sit by my fake fire and read again..
It is.too too much.

Seriously.....??

Finally...a finish...So happy..This is rare at my house now-a-days..
A gift of love...dropped on my porch with a cherry cake...made and gifted by Kathy.
One for my overwhelmed sister and one for her overwhelmed sister.
Thank you Kathy...so beautiful!!  They made us cry..we were so touched.
 Seriously....Really?
Must I keep  looking at fabric sales when fabric is pouring out of my shelving already???
It is so calming to look at fabric sales online.
Guilty me!!...but it is sooo soothing..Getting new little bits now and then..
Getting a laugh here...
And having a bright day here....
Well,  Mother has passed, my husband has a terminal illness, I am 100 years old...so,
why is it still so hard to use my favorite fabric..?
Eg..those lovely kangaroos that Beth sent me, or fabric I have saved forever..
On the pinwheel quilt just finished, the binding is about 20 years old and the new baby quilt I am starting has a background from Mae's discount fabric in Miami...even older!
.Something wrong here?...Is it really ok to pat it and love it and have a stash to admire in times of grief...
Or am I a total nut case...Do not answer this question, please....
My  Darling man is so stable that his stubbornness has returned...Ha!
Of course, it is that very thing that  keeps him alive.
He is wearing his Trilogy 8 hours a night now!!! Yahoooo!
Now, he is refusing to wave to the camera to show the world how well he is doing.
But, then..maybe he just doesn't want to miss a shot of the latest tennis on TV.

The excuse

My mother made me do it.!!!
I used to love Fabric.com.  Then it was bought over by Amazon.com and lost its family business touch.  Then I hated Fabric.com.  Trying to chill last week, I found Fabric.com's $3.22 a yard sale...hmmm...back in love again????   Nothing over $4...my new motto...and Joanne's fabric...forget you for now that is for sure.
Christmas fabric...joining the adored children's book, Santa Mouse..comes this fabric with the mouse on the balls...and being from Arizona...well...

 etc...
 novelties and batiks
 love and obsession...
 more and more...just never enough...
My mother made me do it....so sad, I see...all gone
Thank you Mother...I know that you were an "any excuse will do" kind of Mom!!!

The Giving Gift

Look what came in the mail today to make me happy!!  I just love fabric presents, presents in the mail and fabric, period!!  Timeless Treasures sent this out as a thank you for donating quilts to the Hurricane Sandy relief.  Guess they know how to say "thank you" in the best way ever...a fabric surprise!
I love charms....I have already pressed them and they are ready to go when I feel like doing some lazy work with beautiful fabric.
The only thing that makes me shy away from Equilter for fabric purchases is their...hefty, IMHO shipping prices.  This past week they had free shipping.  New to me was a scrap packet of batiks and hand dyes...Yup..it was worth it.
Of course, once I was online, I just had to snag a few half yard pieces of these pretties below.
Fabric fun...sigh...

Sew Me a Song.....

Sew Me a Song I love you...you are the first of the four extravaganza's I succumbed to.  I couldn't help it...I had a concussion!!  Yours is the first to arrive and I am thrilled.

My husband was cutting the grass yesterday and he ran over a Yellow Jacket nest.  He is upstairs on Benadryl trying to work from home, leg up and swollen.  I am downstairs surviving my concussion.  The big thunderstorm turned off our lights twice....but I have Sew Me a Song to brighten my day!!!!!
