Random 2023, January First

So proud of my daughter. This pig belonged to my grandmother....that would have been Emily's great-grandmother....She too, would have been proud of Emily's love of antiques and family treasures.

Marie came by last week to use my electric Go cutter.  She  cut out 30 bowl cozies...So fun!!

Still  more scrappy potholders...I cannot stop

Finally Samson's baby quilt top is finished...Jeeze...took me forever.

Is it the old phone camera or the old operator.?? My pictures are just awful

And, today I put together 30 tissue covers.  

They are ready to have the tissues inserted tomorrow.

All this done on the first day of the  year.

WHY??

Because one of my support groups had a 24 hour  meeting...Every hour, on the hour from groups all around the world,  USA, Canada, England, Turkey, Israel, Iran among some...It was amazing.  I attended six last night going to bed at 2 am....Getting up at 9 am this morning, I went to 8 more today.

It was so terrific..amazing actually.  I have friends from all around the world!!

Best part, is that I put my I-pad up next to the sewing machine, put it on mute unless I was speaking and completed some of my work/tasks from 2022

A win-win for  me!!

I am so grateful that 2023 at least had a good start.

PS  I even did 30 Sit and Stand exercises...

A Tisket, a Tasket..

Tonight my friends helped me stuff tissue holders for the holidays

 All put in nice new baskets from Goodwill..... on senior Tuesday.
My heart....

I have such a small amount of fabric...I have to scrounge around, you know.

 In desperation, I found this leftover chocolate in the pantry.
Disgusting!!!  Even I could not eat it...Emily????

Every Wednesday night for 15 years, I have had a quilting group at my house.
We sew, and we laugh and we eat.
We are friends.
 Now-a-days, when they leave, I cry and feel despair.

For it is nine o'clock when my man used to come home from tennis.
He would say Hi to all and make himself a healthy smoothie.
  Now at nine o'clock, everyone leaves and he does not come home.

The silence screams that he is dead and gone.

My crazy brain.

Mr.O'Quilts was a health nut.

ALS did not care.

Hitting it Just Right

This is why I love my bottle tree....It changes with the time of day and the seasons..
.It inspires me as I view it from my sewing room.

Today I was brave.
Today I left my sewing room for a Sit and Sew at Terri's house.
It was so worth it.
Here is the crowd getting Grandma off...
You would think it was to the moon instead of 40 minutes away to Terri's house.
 Sherry drove and I relaxed, or tried to..

 I basted my grey X quilt with help in Terri's awesome studio.

....and finished 70 tissue holders for holiday gifts.

Since it is only still September, I am thrilled.

Terri made us lunch, we all caught up with each other and I had two 10 min power naps...lol. 

Can you imagine the hostess at  a Sit and Sew making us presents to thank us for coming.

Oh, Terri...you are something else.  My new flower pincushion is the best!!!!

My sister had her moving sale today.

  She did just ok..but is grateful to be getting rid of things and moving along.

Thank you Stephanie for taking such good care of things so I could have an outing.

The Grands also enjoyed a short visit with their mother.

Love Has no Pride

Starting the Holiday thing....

Tonight, after the Charlotte Modern Quilt Guild meeting, I finished my tissue holders.  I got the tute from...Skip to My Lou.  Of course, I then found a tutorial I like better from Notes from the Patch via Debby's blog. (But, then I am a bit lazy to do the extra trim....hmmm)  It is way too late for me now because I have just  finished 50...just need to put in the tissues.  I like to hand them out during the holidays.

It was Terri who introduced me to these when she gave me one to take to the airport with me as I said goodbye to my daughter.  She was moving to Europe and I am a big cry baby!!  I loved it.....thx Terri....

Now that these are made...I am on to more potholders.  I had thought I was set with 17 potholders, but I only have 7 left.....that will be my next project.....Glad to be getting going with these now..
