RX Flannel

If you are not a passionate fabric collector, you may not fully appreciate RX Flannel. And, you just may not appreciate the Black Wednesday bargain:  $1.47 a yard and then the 15% discount equals $1.26 a yard ...equals abundant fabric hysteria and abundant new fabric.
Here are a few of the pillowcases I made today.
Cats, (facing the right way)...Good girl O'Quilts!
Just loving and touching fabric brings serenity...
While I was preoccupied, this was going on.....Sewing machine was off..TBTG
I guess she had been watching, as her hands are perfectly positioned moving the hankie through.
Cough...cough...I was saying goodnight to the Mr. last night.  As he went to reply, he choked on his saliva...I screamed for Emily..by the time she got there, he had recouped.
.and I quickly realized that I did not know how to use the Cough Assist machine..

.Believe me, now I do.  Good Lord.

This is the second time in a few days that this has happened.  I am trying to stay in today and enjoy it, but it is very hard not to project doom and gloom.
Big thanks to Drenna and Charmaine for taking the children today....and for the wonderful nursing assistants that help us.  Now, I think we may be needing them a few more hours.  We are so so fortunate and blessed for the help we are getting and for the friends and family to lift us up.

Flannel

Yesterday was the day.  Small wonder after all the stress.  Stress plus daily pain medication equals a big fat stomach ache. (of course eating the M&M's hidden in my fabric stash did not count at all).  After seeing my mother, I crawled home to bed only to find someone else beat me there.  My husband had pulled his back again and was in bed with muscle relaxers...Good Lord....what a way to spend a beautiful Saturday, the two of us out for the count.  There is nothing like a good rest when you know you are sick and cannot do anything else.  Today is a new day..aren't we lucky when a brand new day comes along.  So out came the flanne quilt panels that my friends bought me at the Springs Creative sale. And out came those wonderful flannels I bought on Black Friday at JoAnn's fabric store.  You can buy some of these panels at Mary Jo's or Hobby Lobby, but the price was right at Springs.

I do not really like working with flannel, but I like the feel for children.  Usually I use iron on batting to stabilize them.  This time I did something different.  This quilt basting spray sat unused on my shelf.  With windows open on this glorious day, I was able to spray baste the flannel top to the batting and then the flannel bottom with no trouble at all.  I like this better than the iron on batting..easier and less clutter.  I pinned too, just to be sure.  Now I have about 5 quilts basted, ready to quilt, relaxing my mind!

The Flannel Story.....

Black Friday came and my daughter and I decided to go ahead and do it...get up at 5 and go to JoAnn's Fabric Store for the big flannel bargain of $1.47 a yard.  Five o'clock came and I heard nothing from my daughter and I heard nothing from myself...so sleep kept coming.  We said that it was not worth the hassle and had a great day.  Then evening came and I was a bit stir crazy or maybe just plain crazy...wanted an adventure...get out of the house you know.  So I persuaded my man to take me to JoAnn's.  It was 8pm.  I thought things might all be gone, but what the heck..adventure.  Emily got her man to go too and we met up there.  NO ONE was in the store..only employees and the racks were absolutely full of flannel all for that wonderful price.  Emily and I gathered up our loot and carried it to the cutting tables.  The women had no other customers so they were enjoying our flannels.  They would say things like.."Oh, I never saw that one...or how adorable"..and they would feel it and love it and then cut it.  The pig fabric I had to share with the worker because she loved it so.  Mr.Two Red Wellies was talking to Mr.O'Quilts and observing that in any respectable hardware store, one would be hard pressed to hear the worker say something like," Oh, wow...that hammer...I just love that, can I feel it?  Or, those nails are just awesome, etc!"  I just love quilters:)
And, I just love that price of $1.47 a yard in Charlotte's brand new JoAnn's Fabric store.  And I just love that
I do not have to pay the now price of $6.99 or $5.99....Yeah for adventure.
