Grandma's Eye Candy

The last of my fabric orders came today...So I thought I would share.
I love this colorway...and I love the fish..
A little bit from down under..to make me smile.
This Halloween treat is a batik.  It is quite lovely but does not photograph well.
Of course...the show off stars...He did his hair and she shows off all her purses, including the new white poodle one from Texas!! Gotta love being 5 and 6!!
Evan, at 10 cannot be bothered to have a photo...too cool, you know.
He is playing Mindcraft.
My only sister is still in the hospital.  She was to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy this morning but she was allergic to the prep...Last time I talked to her she was quite distraught.  Now she has to have the tests tomorrow.  They are ruling out any intestinal bleeding that may be the cause of the severe anemia.
When she had the emergency blood transfusions on Wednesday,...
Immediately her only sister..Me!!! put all the deleted fabric shop links back on my computer.
I mean, really...life is way too short.
And, every time, my 3 inches worth of stitches irritates me, I am reminded of my Melanoma.
Going into the hospital to visit her reminds me of my dear man, now gone 11 weeks...

It is all out of my hands.
We will survive!
How dear the breath of life.

Family and Stuff

My dear man is soooo well taken care of.  He was outside in the sunshine again today.
Thank you Mother...I know that you especially loved him and have sent your angels and caregivers right over here to our house, continuing the family tradition of good caregiving with those who already know us...
Today is my first birthday ever without my mother.  That may seem strange at my age.
This post is a mixed bag...Here, Sunday....
The grandkids having a fun visitation with their Mommy
My sister took all  of them to the Irish  society Christmas party.

And today ....my birthday...The best day ever..

Holiday spirit comes again...one more Mr.O'Miracle

With my girl and her man's help, the Christmas decorations are getting up.  We have two children with us this weekend.  Tonight we are watching Christmas movies.
This quilt pattern is called "Christmas Rose"  An Irish chain with a yellow center.  I found the pattern in a magazine some years back.  Used, the quilt is getting soft and comfy.
Bean bag from Aldi:) with small Christmas quilt Disappearing Nine-Patch.
I made a larger one of this too..It is just perfect to showcase Christmas prints.

I am pretty sick...darn asthma ruins any nice little cold a person could get.  Today I slept and slept and slept, while the nurses took care of my man.
.Finally I was up at 1:30 for a breathing treatment..It was quiet as a mouse around this house,
when lo and behold...
Out on the deck was my dear man all bundled up!!!!
and he was
Playing whist with Evan.
Now, this is really a Christmas miracle.
His CNA was doing play dough with Lynsey and all was well in our world.
Blessings
Thank you Cousin Ann for your gifts of these charm packs...My sister and I were patting them today.
Above is Kaleidoscope and below is Mimosa
And below from Anna Marie Horner is True Colors
Once upon a time, I vowed never to use pre-cuts...That was too silly...Little charm packs with five inch blocks are so lovely. When time is of essence and energy is low..I absolutely agree, that this is the way to go!
Last night the electricity went out at 3:40 am..  Because my dear man is quite hooked up with.electrical things now to breathe...I shouted out and hurried downstairs..
There he was breathing away...at first I thought it was the back ups...but...Oh, No!

The electricity had evidently NEVER gone off....It was just me bad dreaming...Lordy!
The post of the day:)

Gratitude

Thank you Aunt Emily for sending the cool T-shirts from Ireland...
 I like to read.....
 I am always happy....
 Brothers....so special...
Hiding from the big bad wolf....
 Big brothers are brave....
 So are little brothers....
Mommy taught me how to swing myself, in and out...I just got the direction wrong....
I have such gratitude that after 4 long months....I could have this visit with no symptoms, just fatigue...My cup runneth over...

Cheering up!

My son went to see his failing grandmother.  Guess who he left with me.  The fun of potty training is a good wash up after:)  Such a treat!
Lynsey just turned 3 and Dylan is 2 on Monday.

Quilting with kids.

When my husband made my design walls, he made the left over pieces into design walls for the grandchildren.     I took my 50% off coupon to Michaels and bought a felt board/zoo package $8 w/50% off = $4 and cut up scraps to supplement it.  Here two of the grandchildren are making pictures with fabric and eagerly looking into the scrap bag for other possibilities.

My oldest grandson is showing off the postcard he just made for his mother.  He picked out what he knew to be her favorite fabrics (Batman, Superman, etc.), he cut and pasted onto card stock that was already cut.  He used a glue stick.  Then he sat on my left knee and put his hand on mine as we free-motion quilted his postcard.  He picked out the thread that he thought his mother might like (blue, which happens to be his favorite color too!) .  Then he guided my hand as I threaded the machine. He then used the glue stick to glue his card to another piece of card stock.  I cut it later to size.  We then sewed the edges with the blanket stitch and he wrote on the back of it, " I love you Mommy, Evan.   He was quite thrilled with himself in the sewing room today.
