Placemats, Et.al..

Preparing for Sit and Sew...There are 3 this month...but two are on the same day  UGH
This was fun using up all the "made" fabric...some from 35 years ago.(above)
Below, random strips...
The children and I filled charm sized squares with rice.
Five bags of rice used...wow...about a third full.
We used clips to hold the hole closed.
Here we are...95 hand warmers/or ice bags.
All ready to be sewn closed on the sewing machine.
I am behind on the holiday prep thing..
.I have not even started to cut the tissue holder fabric..
Look at what I pulled out...in preparation of Queen Bee in a few...
I have had the Go Accuquilt for at least 10 years....never used it for piecing..
only for some applique...fun..  It has just been sitting around..
In deference to all my WIPs and UFOs..
.I am starting something new..
Again!!
Here is Rosie...guard dog...in Portland.
She is looking for me!!!!
Soon, Rosie, soon!!

In the background I see my antique star quilt.
and under the fan on the right, I glimpse the table I bought in Morocco
many many moons ago...love to see the stuff in my daughters house.
Exhausted me came home from grocery shopping.
Out came my army...they had seen me coming..
All three children and my son.
With no fuss at all and in no time,
everything was brought in and put away.
Amazing...all without me.
There is a certain grandma feeling so blessed...

Kids in the backyard with their scooters...
Glad I have a big yard...
Granddaddy left them a lovely ramp for sliding.

Today, Lynsey and I played the timer game.
I set the timer for 30 min...she cleaned her room and I cleaned my sewing room.
She was finished in 15 min...
Sigh....I guess you know the rest of the story.
I found sooo many treats under my mess piles, that sewing seemed the next best thing to do.
Gotta just love a quilter!!

Sewing........ Meditation My Way

Three more placemats.  Charlotte Modern Quilt Guild
has 303 now....aiming for 600 by November for holiday gifts.
Size is:  12.5" by 16.5 "   Local folks join in with us.

An adorable piece from a friend of my son.

Interesting bowl warmer post
Scroll past the needle savers..

From the blog of:
Patchery-Menagerie
comes this wonderful reminder!!

Worth noting....today I ate some fresh spinach sauteed in butter like Grandma  used to make.

Yesterday was a very tough day with the personalities in my family.
Of course, it was I...who thought that God needed an assistant.
My son said, God didn't and if he did...he would not choose me!!
I was beside myself...then I remembered dear Mr.O'Quilts...saying to me..
"Just go Sew!!!"  So I did...hummmmm

I finished these two small quilts
Cat backing below for this red and white checked baby quilt.
Did I mention how much I love fabric????
How about this:  from Fabric Depot...RIP
the " I love you fabric" !!
Plaid fabric below for the Christmas quilt.

Relaxation in the daytime:  Snipping

Picking the backings for my potholders...very fun.....All pinned  for sewing at
my sit and sew on Saturday.  I still have more to do...

From Carol:  A finger light for aged eyes.
Relaxation in the evening!!!!
Just so you know, life is not all fresh spinach!!

WIP...Works in Process

Such a fun time at Guild Sit and Sew today.
I am finally getting to this Halloween bit..
Four Patch Frenzy
Hope I can sew it together tomorrow.

Last night was  the night I found that I had 10 large rotary cutters....all needing new blades.
That is the result of trying to clean my sewing room.
I have put new blades in them all...now need a special place...hmmm

I finished up the last three of the 8 place mats, I had made for the Modern Quilt Guild for  next month
Hope I remember to bring them to the meeting.

Summer cooking school for teens Salud...at Whole Foods
Grandma paying anything to keep the 14 year old from just hanging out..
Even though...it was only a week, it was a great success.
He hated the idea...but he loved it once he got there.
He was so proud.
The students prepared lunch ...wonderful
They prepared the lunch from 10 to 1...Then they each brought a visitor to lunch at one.
I was so excited it was me...
At the end of the luncheon, Evan said that I was not too embarrassing.
TBTG
THAT was the  highlight of my life.
Proud of the desserts he helped make.

Now I hear that Mr.O'Quilt's roses may have the deadly Rosette virus..
Stay tuned...ugh

Just wondering how a formerly smart person would end up eating all of Linda's cookies,
plus all of Eamon's candy...and end up with a sugar stomach ache...
MOTHER, I have turned into you.
I remember when you ate all the Easter bunny candy and had to run out for more the night before.
And you did that every year!!!

RIP Dear Mother RIP

Weekend Joys

The boy is 14...unbelievable...entering 9th grade...
The dog and I, reading on the porch...ice on the knee, of course.
Love the peace of my backyard
The card from Linda that made me cry.
So often we feel alone in our trauma...most people want to hear we are fine.
ALS caregiver survivors often have PTSD
Thank you Linda
Four place mat tops for CMQG outreach
We are shooting for 600 by November so each person who receives meals on wheels,
can have a pretty new place mat for the holidays
This is my favorite outreach ever...It is so much fun to play with scraps.
Place mats are 12.5 x 16.5  or so..
One layer of batting...quilted with a backing.
Kids are at the beach with their mother.
Sooo excited to have a beach trip each summer...lucky them.
I am happy for my week alone.
Still, I miss them already.
