Just Living my Life...

Dear me....August 4, 2024, Carol Lyles Shaw died at the age of 75.  I remember her speaking at our guild....and now, she too, is gone.

Making more tissues to give away to friends and sad folks around here.

My 7 7  year old neighbor had a bad fall...As a former Navy officer, I felt he would heal better with a Navy washcloth.
I sent a message...a washcloth to heal....two rice bags for the freezer and a selection of children's bandages...all military approved for the elderly retired ones....So much fun...I am sure it is helping him recover...
This is an old tool of my grandmother's....I use it at my machine to tuck fabric in and fix corners....Does anyone know what it really is for?

While being involved in political television, I started on my donation to the cause...Enhancing 4 bags for folks to canvass...pockets here for a cell phone and more...pamphlets inside...I just started tonight.  4 Ibuprofen , two glasses of wine and I can actually walk without screaming...progress..  Tomorrow...PT  yuck and cards and relaxing....reading and sewing...a very good living of the life.  Today, the weather was beautiful.!!!!!

Sewing News and More

Something accomplished:  binding on and quilt finished...quilting by  Mary Jerz and pattern by Bee in my Bonnet...but maybe not, since I cannot find it....  I am  having such a hard time with focus and  color on Google's new set up...Oh, well....
Easy pattern with 16 patch and 4 snowballed blocks

Tissues added to make 50 for the holidays
Five year old Ava is in kindergarten now....Here she sleeps under the quilt her mother made many moons ago.
Three year old Aoife showing off before bed....with the sleeping mask her mother made her for her trip.

Today: grueling PT for my balance.  Lunch with Marie and Charmaine, hair cut by my haircutter of 30 years on my patio...laundry  done and 69 degrees/ cloudy and freezing to southern me.!!

I had Halloween fabric in my cart on some Amazon site.  Off it went when my sister unearthed my two big  boxes of Halloween fabric that I already had...
I used to have 2 huge boxes of Halloween things in the attic at my old house...How could it be that there was only one tiny box left...??  Below is my Target special from  one years 90% off sale
And so the season begins...like a flash it will be 2024.

All About Aoife

Happy today with my emotional gas tank filled to the brim from my birthday visit.
This was a birthday present from Aoife.  In one of the many sunflower fields in Oregon.
Future sewist perusing my stash.
Sharing it with Monkey in  hopes  to influence  him too!!
Cheesecake decorated  by my daughter with sugared cranberries..
Birthday flowers from my daughter and DIL
Stunning...and of course my studio in all its glory.\
Saying goodbye..waiting for her Uber.

They are all now safely home for Christmas in Portland, awaiting a bit of a storm.
Nice to be home.
It seems that I am not the only one in my retirement apt building with Covid...Dear me.!! I see "No Visitor" signs up everywhere.
In the spirit of the holidays, I am attaching a travel tissue pkg within a pretty case to each door  with a Covid sign.
See...gotta bloom where you are planted for Christmas.

Now I am climbing into bed under quilts and my wool Guatemalan Blanket.

Grandma is a Wizard

Above is the snack bag I made for Lynsey with the awesome and adorable vinyl that
Eithne bought from Ireland.  It is lined with Ripstop.

Tonight Lynsey said that she had promised her friend,
Saylor a snack bag with a dog on it??
And it had to be done TONIGHT!!!!
Lynsey cut the dog with the Accuquilt cutter from laminate and went to bed., leaving
her grandmother to figure it all out.
I must admit it was fun!!
Now, the girls can have lunch together with their snack bags.

Today was the day that Lynsey shared that one friend was bullying the other behind her back.
Lynsey stood up for her friend, thus the urgency of the snack bag.
Today was the day that Lynsey's first friend got her period..in the middle of English class
Fifth grade, age 10.  All was transmitted to me in such a cavalier way..because starting at age 10,
They know it all.!!!!

Tonight was the night that Evan, age 14, asked me to watch the baking show with him....and he had no fever...He also hugged me...What is up??  I loved it.

Tonight was the night that Dylan, age 9 stayed up way too late helping his father outside fix brakes on a customer's car...
At the end of the day, my seesaw life felt quite good.

Friday is a three day weekend...teacher work day on Monday.  The children are spending
that weekend with their mother.
I have finished 100 tissue holders for the holidays...
So proud of Grandma O'Quilts!!!

Stay tuned...Tomorrow's experiment is to dye Walmart's clothesline rope
with...Kool-Aid!!!
I am so old that on Instagram, I misspelled Kool-Aid.
It has been a long time ago..forgotten hot Arizona summers of my youth.
