Building for Success

Weekend cutting is a success.
Despite the steroid drama.
All Mr. O'Quilt's shirts are now cut into strips, ready to be sewn into the above 16 patch.
Putting grief in its place..A Quilt!!

Oh, sweets, I LOVE it -- all the bits of happiness with those dear, dear shirts. I find my clothing quilts to be something sort of (though not exactly) like a hug.

I love this quilt. It holds true to the reason women started quilting to begin with . . . turning old clothes and rags into beautiful warm and cozy quilts to warm their families on old winter nights and to adorn their homes. I love that and it is truly missed in today quilts. I'm as guilty as everyone else, going to the stores and mixing and match fabrics. Of course this is fine, but what you are doing here is Americana and I love it:)

I think my very favorite quilt to actually use and cuddle and lug and lump is made from shirts ~ ~ AND it's pretty to look at as well. I absolutely LOVE your shirt quilts and will repeat your phrase "putting grief where it belongs" ~ ~ and think of you and all your wisdom.

While I head off to the LQS to pick up more fabric to dream about more quilts that I hope I live long enough to make!!! Oh, how I love to see and touch and fold and sort new fabric and then do it all over again to mix the newly acquired with the well-folded and well-stacked existing fabric!

Hugs to you for today.
