The Dead Beat...Sunrise on Providence

Tonight they dropped my mother.  A caregiver trying to transfer her to her bed from her wheelchair dropped her on the floor instead.  I am just back from Sunrise on Providence.  My fragile 92 year old mother with Parkinson's now has a black eye and bruises all over her fragile body.  TBTG nothing broken...but lots of unnecessary pain.  She is a two person transfer and this new girl tried it all by herself.  Just sharing...

I am sorry to hear that. The elderly can be very vulnerable particularly to perhaps a choice, that may have not been the best one, made by the carer. (I do not want to open up a can of worms here.) I hope your mum is not too traumatised and that she has been properly assessed for damage that cannot be seen. You are both in my thoughts.

The poor dear soul.
No winners at all in a situation like this. My experience with nursing staff was that they were overworked & underpaid &, nearly always, quite young. There were good ones & not-so-good ones.
I hope your Mom is not in much pain -- you & your sisters as well.
hugs to all

So sorry to hear this. My dad was in a care facility for 7 years and I do understand the mixed feelings you have about their care. I hope she will be ok
